Hi! My name is Salve and I’m a shopaholic!

Do you remember how you felt the first time you visited a theme park as a child? You’re all wide-eyed with excitement and you couldn’t wait to try every single ride.

I get the same feeling when I’m in a shopping mall. Those racks and racks of dresses; rows and rows of shoes in every imaginable color and style; and those bags… wow! Different sizes, different shapes… and all so pretty! The mall is like a theme park to me; every stall promises lots of fun and unending surprises. I’m giddy with excitement when I find something I like. And once I’ve started putting things in my shopping cart, I can’t seem to stop, especially when I’m shopping for shoes.

When I go into a shoe store, I’d usually tell myself I’ll only buy a pair. But the displays are so pretty, so nice and cute and they feel oh so comfy when I try them on. Shoes are my real weakness. My plan of buying just one pair… never happened. I’d usually end up with three or five pairs. And that makes me feel happy. When I walk out of the store, I’m in cloud nine and a big smile is pasted on my lips. Thank God, my buddies, Visa and Mastercard, are always with me (which means BILLS by the end of the month, but… *sigh* I’ll deal with that later).

Believe me, shopping is not a stressful activity. It’s therapy! It makes you forget the rough day you had, how difficult your boss is, or the fight you had with your boyfriend earlier. Shopping simply is enchanting.

If you’re a shopaholic like me and Rebecca Bloomwood, you know exactly how it feels. All shopaholics should catch “Confession of a Shopaholic” in Cinemas on February 18, 2009!

I dropped by SM’s Kultura yesterday, with a goal of buying a pair of comfy local-made slippers. I love handmade/native slippers, being born and raised in Albay – home to numerous abaca handicrafts. Anyway, back to my slipper-hunting activity. There weren’t a lot of choices, so I just wander around the store to look for some interesting items. And I did see some: wedge sandals displayed together with bags made from buri and some from braided abaca fiber. My eyes were actually fixed on a certain item: a pair of wedge sandals with green straps. What really attracted to them are the green straps. The color green.

I have an ever-changing color preference. Depending on my mood. But seeing those green straps, my fascination for purple (supposed to be my current favorite) was slowly slipping away. Immediately, I tried on the sandals, asked for my size, and tried them on again. Satisfied with how it on my feet, I headed for the cashier to make the purchase. I was so excited with my find and planned to wear them the next day at work.

A few stores from Kultura, I passed by another shoe shop — Mendrez. They’re having this “Sale in the City” promo, so I decided to go in and check their items. I do love the shoes in Mendrez. I can honestly say that almost all my foot wears, I buy from them. Their shoes fit me well and make my feet look dainty even if I don’t have the prettiest feet. I tried on a few sandals and office shoes, but I wasn’t that interested. I went around some more. After a while, a pair of foot wear caught my eyes, and yes, they were in the shade of green.

For a couple of seconds, I just stared at them in wonder. They look so comfortable and soft that I wasn’t able to resist the urge to try them on. There was another pair of the same style in Ecru, but my mind has already decided that it has to be the pair in green shade. I asked for a pair in my size, tried them on (they really felt good my feet) and found myself in front of the cashier paying for them. Yeah, an unplanned purchase. But what the heck! I like them so much.

Here, take a look at my finds:

I simply adore the straps.
