I Remem-BER

Oh yeah! It’s the first day of September and yes it’s the very first day of the -BER months! And for us Pinoys, it’s the start of the countdown to Christmas.

Christmas is well-celebrated occasion in the Philippines. Preparations for the holidays comes ahead than preparations for the Halloween. Shopping malls will start dressing their display windows and shelves with scenes and themes of Christmas. It’s a funny scene in October, when establishments are decorated with both Christmas and Halloween items; that if you’re not used to it, you would think you walked into another dimension. But that’s how we are. We love to indulge ourselves and really get into the spirit of the Holiday season.

In a matter of days, there will be tents in almost every street and on the sidewalks, selling puto bongbong and bibingka. I miss eating those. I would probably be one of those lining up for a piece or two of putobongbong , waiting patiently for my turn. Mmmm… I can almost imagine its taste: sweet, creamy, and with a hint of salt and butter.

Here are some snaps of Christmas last year:

*The first photo shows displays of Let it Snow decors in a mall.

*Second photo is the giant Christmas tree in Araneta Center, Cubao. I wonder if they’d use the same tree this year or construct a new one. Will they decorate it with the same ornaments (those gigantic butterflies, and huge Christmas balls) or should I expect for new ornamentst?

*Third one is a photo of the lobby of our office building. I hope they’d think of a new concept. Been seeing the same decorations for two years already! :D

Start making your Christmas list now, people. You don’t want to be caught in the Holiday rush. And commodities are still cheaper this time than when it’s November or December already.

It’s a hundred and fifteen days before Merry Christmas! ;)

I’m looking forward to Christmas because my little Sonnet will finally be able to experience it. Last Christmas kasi wala pa sya gaanong malay and she wasn’t excited about the presents and decorations yet. Ngayon mas appreciative na sya:)

This morning I woke up hearing a Christmas song playing at our neighbor’s house. It’s their tradition actually. So how will I forget that today is the start of the ‘BER’ months? :p

Salve: Sarap makinig ng Christmas carols. I listen to them whenever I feel like I need something to lift up my spirits. Pero naka-headphone naman, para ako lang makarinig.

Salve: Yes, Brainteaser, the countdown begins! :D

Yay Salve, can I come and hang a branch of mistletoe in your office?

    Volunteers anyone? :-)

In truth, I’m not that happy kapag Christmas… parang may something sa kanya na hindi kasing tuwa ko kapag new year.

Salve: Kaw naman, try to be happier this Christmas.

kengkay’s last blog post…nakakahiya si kengkay

i remem-ber first pasko ni ira with us naka-costume kami talaga ng santa claus. As in pati damit, that was the time feeling ko at lahat ng tao sa paligid ko princess pa ang anak ko at walang kaagaw ng attention kasi walang ibang baby. At hello ang gift first time ko nagbukas ng sobrang dami gifts kasi excited ako kesa kay ira dahil wala pa naman siyang masyadong muang nun, so feeling ko aking gifts lahat yun. Ang saya di ba. Syempre since naka Santa costume kami dami daming bata ang nakapila.

Salve: at least you have one good memory of Christmas to cherish, ate. Yung iba, never pang naka-experience ng masayang Pasko. Let us all hope that this will be a better Christmas for all of us, ok? :)

When Monday came this week, I was so excited! Thinking about how Manila will be donning this air of excitement and all the baubles will be coming out and everything will look very Christmasy. I told people at work about it, but there are just so many Scrooges in the UK. They’re not a huge fan of Christmas. Oh well. Can’t wait to be there!
